Word of Wisdom

Since I have been gluten free I feel like I have come to understand the Word of Wisdom so much more. I am eating grains I have never heard of, I am eating lots of fruit and vegetables. I am eating meat sparingly. I feel healthier and I have more energy then I could have ever imagined. I am also trying to eat more organic foods. I know what your thinking, organic, that would be nice, but it's way too expensive. Well, I recently read an article from the Sprouts magazine called Eat Healthy, Save Money-How to Feed a Family Nourishing Meals on a Budget http://sprouts-digital.com/. It talks about not making meat the centerpiece of your meal, because too much meat is not good for you and it's expensive. Also, eating in season (WofW), and eating more beans, they are cheap, healthy, and the most nutritious protein available (there is also an article in this magazine on how to cook Gas-free beans!) My friend Tara, who you will also be hearing from on this blog, told me when she met with a nutritionist he told her to buy frozen organic fruit and vegetables, it's much cheaper then fresh, and it lasts longer. We currently live on a pretty strict budget, but now that I'm not eating very much processed food, and making stuff at home from scratch, and limiting our meat intake, we can buy more, organic, nutritious food, and our bodies are loving us for it.
